<span id="deduplication"></span><h1>Hvordan fungerer deduplisering?<a class="headerlink" href="#how-does-the-deduplication-work" title="Link to this heading">¶</a></h1>
<p>Prosessen med å fjerne redundante filer og erstatte dem med NTFS-hardlenker ved hjelp av TreeSize kalles <strong>deduplisering</strong>. Dette vil redusere diskplassen som er blokkert av duplikatfilene dine.</p>
<p>I stedet for at hver av filene tar opp individuell plass på harddisken din, fjerner TreeSize alle duplikatfiler og beholder bare én av dem.</p>
<p>Filene som ble fjernet, vil bli erstattet med hardlenker, som deretter peker til de gjenværende dataene (Se: <a class="reference internal" href="notesonntfs.html#notesonntfs"><span class="std std-ref">Notater om NTFS</span></a>).</p>
<p>Dataene deles nå av alle hardlenkene for denne filen, som vist i bildet nedenfor.</p>

<p>Disse hardlenkene kan brukes som enhver normal fil. Du vil ikke merke noen forskjell, bortsett fra at dataene nå deles mellom de andre lenkene. Faktisk er de ikke forskjellige fra en normal fil, bortsett fra at de ikke opptar sin egen plass.</p>

<h2>Hvilke av duplikatfilene vil bli erstattet?<a class="headerlink" href="#which-of-the-duplicate-files-will-be-replaced" title="Link to this heading">¶</a></h2>
<p>Hvis du setter hake ved alle filene i en duplikatgruppe, vil TreeSize velge filen med den nyeste «Sist endret»-datoen og bruke den som «master» for denne gruppen. Alle andre filer vil bli fjernet og erstattet med hardlenker, som peker mot masterfilen.</p>
<p>Hvis du ønsker å velge en masterfil manuelt, kan du la en av filene i en duplikatgruppe være uavhuket. Denne filen vil da ikke bli erstattet, men brukt som master i stedet.</p>
